It was a blustery start to the Spring sports season, but we are excited to kick off the season. We have over 100 students participating in Baseball, Softball, Girls Lacrosse with Bromfield, Ultimate Frisbee, and Track and Field. We are looking forward to a fun and competitive spring. Students are still welcome to sign up for any of these sports. Please see Ben Benoit or Lisa Zick to register.
Please join us for the upcoming Spring Show at 7:00 PM on April 4, 5 and 6. Our students are hard at work and making great progress. This year’s Spring Show is entitled 13 Roses. As the title implies, each student-directed play is a short love story - some silly, strange or a little dark. No tickets will be sold in advance, so please arrive early to buy your ticket at the door for $10. We look forward to seeing you!
We are excited to experience the upcoming solar eclipse on Monday, April 8th as a school community. On Devens, we will experience 94% totality at 3:29 pm. We are planning to spend the last block of the day outside as an extended Advisory, dismissing at 3:30 pm as normal. We will provide every student with certified eclipse glasses to ensure safety. We look forward to this exciting and rare learning opportunity.
Have a great weekend.
Brian
Reminder if you have not yet done so, please take one minute and complete THIS SURVEY to indicate your plans for each of your enrolled students for the next school year. Most Parker students return to Parker, and every enrolled student has a secured and continuing spot at the school unless/until they withdraw or enroll with another program. However, as a school of choice, it helps with our planning (including setting expectations for students on our waitlists) to know how many students are considering not returning for next year. For obvious reasons, you do not need to do this survey for a current senior!
Our thanks to the Gardner, Flohr, Matchett, Vacca, Maclary, Kurth, Pierpont, Isaac, Grant, and Pelletier families for their generosity this school year! Parker parents have organized a way for families to show their appreciation of Parker teachers by bringing treats to the school for them. The faculty are always very grateful for these goodies! Please click here to learn more and sign up.
Our families are at the heart of our school and your support is an essential vote of confidence on a Parker education. Please make your 2023-2024 gift today and help us meet our participation goal of 50%! Your gift matters! http://parker.school/giving
Parker PAC is pleased to present an opportunity for Parker parents to learn about the differences between high school and college for students who might seek accommodations (academic, medical, or therapeutic). It is not necessary for your Parker student to have a current education plan for you to attend; we welcome all parents and caregivers who are curious about how to support their student in getting ready for accommodations in college. Details below:
Henry and Emily’s Advisory wants your new or gently used books for a special library just for kids at the Worcester Courthouse. We’re working with CASA, a non-profit that advocates for the best interests of children in foster care in Worcester County. One way you can help support these kids is to
bring a book for toddlers through teens on any (non-religious) topic and drop it in a collection box in the front foyer here at Parker starting on Monday and until April 30th. Since the kids are encouraged to take the books home and keep them, CASA is always looking for help filling the shelves. Books can be in English, Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese, Farsi… any language! If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to Emily at
[email protected]. Thank you!
A group of students in the Youth Venture community elective is running a donation drive to help animals in need. Drop off sealed, non-expired, canned and bagged dog and cat food in the lobby from April 1 to April 12. Record your advisor’s name and what you donated on the provided sheet so that your advisory can win a pizza party! All donations will go to the Worcester Animal Rescue League. If you have any questions, please reach out to our contact representative, Zephyr Schermerhorn, at [email protected].
Reminder Division 1 and 2 students will be testing on various days during the months of March, April, and May, following the schedule listed below. Please make every effort to have students in school and on time for these testing days. All students should eat a good breakfast each day and get a good night’s rest the night before – those two things are the best “test-prep” we can recommend! Students who miss any of these testing days will make-up the tests on days following the dates listed here. Students and families will receive more details in an email about ten days before each testing session.
10th Grade:
7th & 8th Grade:
If you have any questions, please contact Deb Merriam ([email protected]). All tests are untimed, and most students finish by mid to late morning. Parents/guardians and students will get grade/test specific emails with more details that will go home as each test date approaches.
